Make a donation today and sponsor a Farm Share for a Lowell family. Help Mill City Grows provide healthy, locally grown food to those that need it most!
Dear Mill City Grows Friends and Supporters,
I hope this finds you and your family well.
Even as I write that heartfelt salutation, I realize it has taken on an unimaginable meaning. I know many of you are navigating this new world with questions, worry, and fears for the future. The personal spaces we find ourselves in – caring for parents and children, running businesses, finding new ways to work, making sure loved ones have the support they need, feeling disconnected from those we care about – make this global event even harder to bear.
I am right here with you.
This pandemic has revealed how our food systems can fail our community in times of need. I have talked to growers in nearby communities who lack resources and labor to grow this year’s food supply. I have heard countless stories of empty grocery store shelves, and food pantries that can’t keep up with demand.
Through this unease, our Mill City Grows team is working hard to ensure that healthy, life-giving food is available to our community through our Mobile Market Program, which is currently operating online for the safety of our staff and customers. We are also leveraging our other resources, including our MCG Community and School Gardens and community partnerships, to make sure people have access to fresh food now.
The need for this nutritious food is at a critical level, and we greatly need your support to meet this increased demand.
Though many of our Mobile Market customers use SNAP and state Healthy Incentive Program (HIP) benefits to make their food purchase, more than 40% of our online produce orders are given to families at NO COST to them. Your donation will help us continue to provide fresh, healthy produce to those who need it most, and will subsidize expenses during this emergency.
To those who have already generously given, we thank you for your commitment to Mill City Grows and our mission to nourish this very special community. If you know of someone experiencing financial hardship, or facing food insecurity, please encourage them to reach out to us by phone at 978-455-2620 or email at email@example.com.
Please review our program and event updates below — we’ll make necessary changes in the weeks ahead.
Until the next time we meet, cheers to small farms, local food, and dreams of a brighter tomorrow.
MOBILE MARKET PROGRAM
Our Mobile Market has moved online! You can now order fresh, seasonal produce via our Produce Order Form — we’ll pack it up and have it ready for curbside pickup. ANNUAL COMMUNITY SEED SWAP

Our Community Gardens are currently opening for the season, but with COVID-19 safety protocols in place. The gardens are still open, and we will communicate with everyone individually on how to access them.
SPRING GARDENER TRAINING PROGRAM (GTP)
Traditionally presented outdoors on one of our urban farms in Lowell, our Spring GTP class series curriculum is now being shared online to the public free of charge. Please follow Mill City Grows on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to access class curriculum, including gardening tips and advice, garden resources, and more.
